  • Designing Light for a Healthier Home!
  • February 13, 2025

How does a lighting designer illuminate their own home? Over the coming months, as we build our new home, we’ll take you through our approach to residential lighting design, focusing on creating a healthily lit home. Each room will be carefully designed to optimise light for well-being, comfort, and functionality, ensuring that our lighting supports natural circadian rhythms and enhances the way we live. This is more than just aesthetics—it’s about using light to promote better sleep, focus, and overall health.

For too long, the lighting industry has overlooked the biological impact of artificial lighting. Issues like circadian disruption, flicker, glare, and the absence of infrared light in modern LED lighting have been ignored. Poor lighting design can negatively affect sleep cycles, mood, and long-term health. In our home, we’re addressing these challenges head-on—creating a space that supports human biology, reinforces natural rhythms, and enhances the quality of everyday life.

This journey isn’t just about healthy lighting; it’s about redefining residential lighting design to balance function, aesthetics, and well-being. We’ll be sharing our process, insights, and key takeaways across our social media channels, giving you a behind-the-scenes look at how to light a home for health and harmony. Stay tuned as we open the door to a new way of thinking about light in the home—no pressure! 😉

Our aim is simple: to prove that human-centred lighting design can transform lives.
